  • is a job offer letter, signed OPT I-20, and EAD card sufficient for a visa stamp?

I am aware that F-1 OPT travel and visa stamping/reneal is more riskier than F-1. However, if we have to travel outside US then would it be more wise to apply for OPT, receive the EAD, receive a job offer/start a job and then travel?

Any one here who has experience with OPT visa stamping/renewal?

Also can we cancel OPT in the case that we do not want to use it and then choose re-enter on a differenct visa status?
Will this be considered "used OPT" ?

Once you graduate and begin the OPT, you will not be able return to US unless you have a job in hand.

Once OPT is approved, you will use it or lose it. There is no cancellation to use it later. Once you change status, OPT is lost. You can then get it only for a higher degree.
This is my opinion and not legal advice.

Thanks, so if we are in a steady job returning to resume employment should be ok. And if we do not have F-1 stamp (change of status) then when we try to re-enter, we need to apply for a visa stamp. is that correct?

Yes, you need a valid Visa unless you are returning from a short trip to Canada, Mexico or Caribbean islands.
