Hi friends,
i have a unique situation.
So i am getting married to my fiance in August 2013.
My fiance wants to study in a university here starting from Jan 2014 (spring)
The university starts recieving applications in Sept 1st, till Sept end
And issues admits from late Oct to early Nov
The catch here is...this univ doesnt accept resident applications for spring semester (h4 visa)
So the person has to be on F1.
Now my confusion is ...which visa do i get my wife here after marriage in Aug ?
If i get her on H4, then once she gets the admit in Nov, we may have to do H4 ro F1 transfer
But reading other forums i see, H4 to F1 takes 2-6 months.
So there is a risk is...it may not come , before the start of spring sem.
If i need to get her on F1, i have to wait till she gets admit
And also i think there is a rule that student can come only 1 month before the date of class start.
So effectively she can come only in Dec
Meaning we have to be seperated from Aug to Dec , after the marriage
Is there any suggestion you can give ?
Thanks a lot for your response
regards
