I have my visa but I changed sponsor from parents to "Roomate"

Hi there,
Maybe someone can help me out. I want to make sure I do everything right. I came here on a student visa September 2012. My parents were my sponsors.
Now I would like to transfer school. Of course I received a new I20. My issue is my parents can't afford my studies anymore. I have an American Boyfriend with who I am since more then 1 year. I put him as my sponsor on my application for the new college.
They said its not a problem. He is actually known as my "Roomate". My concern is I plan on going back home in June for 1 week (In Germany). On my way back to america, I am afraid they would not let me back in the country if they see that now its not my parents that are sponsoring me but my "Roomate" even thought I already have a visa that expires in 2017.
Can they do that? Do you know where I can find information about this?

If there is an option to change it to Roommate, then I do not think you will get any problem.

Once you're in US on F1 and transferring your school to another, they cannot send you back just because now you've a different sponsor. They are just concerned with the amount of funds that can be declared through an affidavit of support and financial declaration. So it doesn't matter from where you get it. Universities are least bothered about who is paying the money. Its just the consulate that asks for Tax returns etc. for the sponsor.
As you're going back home, for the re-entry interview, you might need these documents again, even if it is from a different sponsor. Affidavit ensures that the person who's sponsoring cannot back off from support later on.
