  • IF my F-1 visa gets rejected can I re-apply for the same visa again?

I am doing my practical training now(OPT) and my OPT is valid until June 2014 ( i started my post-completion OPT 2 days ago). I plan to travel to my home country (INDIA) in sept/oct. I know that there is a small risk ( although my school's attorney says there is no risk as OPT is still F-1) and I am willing to take the risk. I have my EAd card, valid I-20, and pay slips for my current job. I will get a letter from them as well, a few days before my travel.

I'm planning for the worst case here , so my questions are :

    - Can i re-apply at the sme consulate if I am denied?
    - Can i apply for another visa category (H-4). Does H-4 approval get imapcted by F-1 approvals/denials?

Worst case, I'm guessing I can always come back to the country on a H-4 status. Am I correct here? or do we have denials for H-4 as well?

If anyone has any tips or experiences, pls share

You can certainly apply again. But chances are much lower then.

H4 application will not be affected by the denial.

This is my opinion and not legal advice.

Thanks for your response... In what way will my H-4 application be affected? I already have two H-4 visa stamps.
