Hi, everyone who's viewing this post,
Here is my situation. Currently, I'm on F2, my husband is on F1 visa. I was on L2 visa before, and I got my SSN back then (I had a EAD to work).
My name on my SSN and my current name in my passport do not match.( I got a new passport from my home country and changed my last name in it).
I went to the DMV to apply for my driver's license, and they said that the name in the passport should match with SSN.
I went to the SSN office to change my name and the officer told me that "there's no such option in their computer system" (he showed the screen to me to verify what he said), since F2 holders are not supposed to have an SSN.
Now I cannot get a driver's license unless they change my name in the SSN and the SSN office is not willing to change my name as I am on F2 visa.
Has anyone ever been through this situation and successfully changed the name on SSN?
