  • Travel to India while studying second Master's - Visa Requirements

I completed MS in 2010 from a reputed university and worked on opt (stem extension) for 2.5 years. I recently joined full time MBA in another reputed university. I am planning to visit India this December(2013). My current F1 visa is valid until June 2014. Can I use this visa to re-enter US in December 2013 or do I need to attend visa interview again in India to get a new visa to reflect my new university I20? What documents I should carry for immigration check purposes at port of entry ?

Appreciate any other travel suggestions. Thanks in advance for your responses.

    Hello, USIndianGuy.

I personally feel you should be able to use your existing F1 stamp to enter and exit the USA. At the Port of Entry (upon your return), if asked you should show I20 of the new University and you should be fine.

My understanding is, as long as the visa on the passport is valid (dates not expired), you are good to enter and exit the country even if you change your course / University.

    Personal Opinion.

    Wishing you luck.

    Cheers,
These are my personal thoughts. I am not a professional.

    Wishing you luck.

I have similar situation which is becoming complicated... I have completed my masters and applied for OPT i got my OPT approved but because of some emergency, I had to leave USA in september. I got admission in PHD in another school in November at that time my SEVIS record was active. My masters DSO has transferred my SEVIS record to the new school and they have sent my an I-20 based on the same SEVIS record. will i be good at POE??
