F2 to F1 CoS

Hi,

I am planning to file for change of status from F2 to F1. I have couple of queries:

1) How much time do I have from the date of approval to date of joining? Say if program starts in August and application gets approved in March, can I continue for 4 months on F2?

2) If my application gets approved and I do not join the university, would my F2 status remain valid or do I need to get it changed again?

Once the change of status is approved, you must join the school full-time from the earliest available semester. So if it is starting in August, it will be better if you apply in March or so.
