I-539
My original I-20 expired on may 20th and I failed to notice it and noticed the International Students Office at the University. They advised me to file for an I-539 to USCIS. I filed an application to extend my immigration status. The processing time is 3.3 months. Therefore the approximate date of results can be gauged by Jan the 15th of 2014.
Has anyone gone through this process of filing for extension via I-539 to USCIS. If yes, please share your experience as I am really tensed and I am not allowed to file for OPT till there is a conclusive decision by the USCIS. Please advise me on what I should do. Can I go ahead and start applying for jobs ?
