Hi Everyone,
I recently graduated and have applied for OPT / Employment authorization. The USCIS received my application on 14th Nov 2013 and I got an email confirmation on 18th Nov saying that my case has been accepted and has been sent to the Vermont center for processing.
The email also had my receipt number in it and said that I can expect the official notice within 7-10 days. Having waited enough number of days, I called the USCIS and it turns out they did send my receipt notice by standard first class post but I never received it. Could've gotten lost, I don't know.
The USCIS representative said they do not send duplicates and that it shouldn't matter as long as I have my receipt number. I am still a little worried though.What do I do if I get an employment offer in the meantime? Wouldn't the employer want to see the I-797 receipt?
I am able to check my status online using the receipt number I got in the email.
