I am currently on F-1 visa OPT and my EAD expires in July 2014. I am residing in US and working as a contractor for a US company. All my work is done remotely and I don't need to go to office at any point of time. Due to urgent circumstances, I need to go back to India for good and I am interested in continuing to work remotely for the same company. Is it legal for me to work for a US company from India, since I found this job during my F-1 OPT period? Is it legal for me to work until my EAD expiry date or even after that date? Can I continue holding my US bank account and receive my pay on my US bank account if I pay US taxes accordingly. I am hesitant to ask my employer about working remotely from India because I am scared that they might decline. I want to make sure that I don't get into trouble with immigration for continuing to work outside of US.
