F1 visa issual in home country while working abroad?

Hi,

I am working in Bangkok for 2 months now. I need to apply for F1 visa to study at a US university. As my family stays in India and I have social and family ties only in India, I believe I should apply for the student visa in India only.

But now that am on a work visa in Bangkok, can I go to India, apply for the US visa and come back to Bangkok after the visa approval? Or do I need to resign my job and stay in India while applying for the student visa?
