B1/B2 to F1 - valid ? possible?

Hello,

I would like to know if it is possible to enter the US using a B1/B2 visa and then apply for an F1 visa. I do not intend to convert or cancel my B1/B2 visa.

If this route is possible, is it safe (probability of securing an F1) and legal ?

I highly doubt you can hold both statuses. I'm not sure why you'd still want the B-1 status if you'll be in F-1 status. But yes, you can enter the U.S. in B-1 status and then change your status to F-1 once you get accepted to a SEVP approved school.
