Hello,
So my case is the following. I'm a F-1 graduate student from Bolivia who is going to graduate on August 8th. I've been married to a US citizen for almost a year now and I've applied for an Adjustment of Status. The application was received by USCIS on May 8 although I have not received the receipt yet (It's still to early haha). I have a job offer for full time employment after graduation that is supposed to start on August 25, so my question is whether I should apply for OPT or just wait for the I-765 that I sent along with the I-485 and I-130 forms. I'm afraid that if apply for an OPT the process is going to affect the AOS, and that I'll delay everything. A good deal of our future depends on whether I begin this job or not so I don't want to take any chances. Is the OPT request more certain that the AOS? Does the OPT have any priority or will it be treated the same way? Will the permits be denied for trying to get two through different paths? I've consulted with my international student advisor and he thinks I should do it, but I'm still not quite sure.
Any comments will help
Thanks.
