  • H1B stamping with expired F1

    Hi,

I have recently changed status from an F1 to HIB. I am planning to get my visa stamped from Mexico or Canada. I hear that if you have a master's from US then I can go through with this successfully and not have to go back to my home country.

Although, my original visa for undergrad degree was expired when I finished my masters as well. I was never out of status but my current visa is expired. Does anyone know if this would pose as a problem?

Thanks for your help and assistance.

Visa stamp in the passport is used only for entering the US. For staying in the US, valid legal status is what matters.

If you were never out of status, I don't see any problem.
