Hello,
I just graduated from a college with a BFA degree. During the time I was in school, I enrolled in Pre-OPT for the last semester as a senior. There were only 4 months left until I graduate but the DSO made a mistake and granted a Pre-OPT authorization for the period of 1 year. When I asked her to issue a new I-20 for me to apply for Post-OPT, she could not because she can not change the date on my Pre-OPT. Has anyone been in the same situation and knows how to solve this?
Can I hire an attorney to file an appeal to USCIS since it's not my fault? I had all proof of communication to prove that the DSO was fully aware that I was graduating in 4 months on the date I made the Pre-OPT request.
