Hi
My wife started her MBA a year back on H4 visa. She later applied for F1 visa and got it approved within 3 months. My wife has found on campus employment and hence needed an SSN to work. When she applied for a SSN, the SSN office informed her that the immigration status couldn't be verified and asked her to contact the school to update the information. She contacted the school and they informed her that the SEVIS status has been updated. When she next visited the SSN office, she got the same answer from the SSN office that the immigration status had not been updated. She again went to school and asked the international students center to update the SEVIS status. Now after a week, when she again visited the SSN office, she got the same reply from SSN. She is feeling helpless here as she don't know what to do. If anyone of you has faced such a similar situation or have knowledge on this issue, can you please advise us on what we can do so that the immigration status can be verified and this SSN issue can be resolved. Thanks a lot for your help.
