    Change Status by Crossing Border

    Hi,

I have been living in California, US on H4 for two years. I am going to start my Masters in August 2015. I got my F1 visa stamped in India in May. I could not enter on F1 before July, so I came back with my husband on H4. To change status I must re-enter US on F1. Can I cross border at Tijuana,Mexico and re-enter on F1?

Vikrant, your visa sticker can't be used for travel (or for anything, really). You need to apply for a new F-1 visa.

Mrs. Agarwal, you may travel through the San Ysidro - Tijuana border and return on your F-1 stamp. You may do so no earlier than 30 days prior to the I-20 start date.
