  • Student Visa after Living Illegal

    Hello everyone,

Here is my scenario, I traveled legally to the U.S and overstayed my visa mostly because I was 7 years old at the time. Shortly after I turned eighteen I willingly moved back to my original country of Chile. I just completed my undergraduates and was looking for colleges for masters, would there be a chance I was given the student visa?

If it helps, Chile is part of the visa waiver program, so Im not sure how that plays out, if this is only for tourists or if it applies to students too.

    Thank you

You can always try to apply for the F1 visa, if you don't get it you'll lose the application fee. It's up to you to decide if that's worth it. You could ask the university but they will probably not know. If you really want to know you can also ask a lawyer, but it probably will cost you more than the F1 visa application fee.
