MBA Student - Companion VISA if NOT married

Dear all,

I am considering doing an MBA in the US. I've been with my girlfriend for quite some time now (8 years) and we are not planning to get married anytime soon. Does anyone know how complicated it would be for my girlfriend to get a VISA (work most likely) given our unmarried situation?

PS: I'm from Switzerland (have both Swiss/French citizenship) and my girlfriend is Swiss
