Visa Extension but cannot renew indian passport

my Student visa expires in May 2015.My Indian Passport will expire in January 2017.According to Indian Passport regulations i cannot renew my passport till January 2016(1 year prior only).For visa extension rules atleast 6 months of passport validity to be there.I need 2 years extension of my visa.Is it possible to get a visa extension even if my passport validity expires.Also can i renew my passport staying in the US.Please help as i am confused with all the rules and regulations

You can renew your F1 visa and the extension will expire with the expiry date of your passport.
When the F1 visa expires, you will have to renew it again if you travel outside the US.
