Hello,
I originally came into the US on H1. My employer applied for my GC in 2010. My I 140 was approved in 2011 and My H1 expired in 2012. I then decided to pursue a Masters degree (Was on H1 extension by this time). I joined school in Jul 2013. Prior to my joining, I requested my employer to withdraw my I 140, which they did. I had also applied for a COS prior to joining school which was approved in Nov 2013. So I have been in school since without a F1 visa stamp on my passport.
Now, I'd like to know if I could travel to India later this month. I graduate during the last week of May 2015 and hence I am travelling prior to graduation. I ask because I am planning to get married in June and I have heard it is recommended I do not travel after graduation without an F1 visa. I have applied for an OPT which I am hoping will be approved by the end of May 2015.
Any insights in this regard will be much appreciated.
