Problem in obtaining a F1 visa if I currently have a valid but unused H1b visa?

I hold a valid H1-b visa (valid till 2016). However, I have never travelled to the US. Now I am planning to pursue my Masters and hence want to apply for a F1 visa. Do you forsee any problems in this situation? Also, should I quit my current job before applying for my F1 visa so that my H1-b status is terminated, or does it automatically get terminated when I go for the interview?
