Renewing California DL in grace period

How should I renew CA DL on 60 days grace period. My STEM OPT expires in June ans hence my DL. However, for my friend, DMV covered the 60 days grace period.

Under Assembly Bill 60, the California DMV will issue drivers licenses to people who are not in status.
