H4 stamped and my F1 lost when I reentered the country. How to retrieve back my f1?

Hi,

I entered USA last year on H4, joined a university to pursue masters and converted to F1. I was working while I was on F1.

I had to exit the country due to personal reasons and when I re-entered USA, H4 was stamped on my passport again. My F1 is no longer valid and I'm not eligible to work.

Is there a way to re-invoke my F1 visa ? If not- what would be the valid reason for the change of status to F1 again?

Also I'm currently undergoing a divorce and need to maintain a valid status in the USA for me to pursue my masters and secure a job and stand on my own feet.

I'm currently jobless and have to act fast to secure a F1.

Please advice.
