H4 stamped and my F1 lost when I reentered the country. How to retrieve back my f1?

Hi,

I entered USA last year on H4, joined a university to pursue masters and converted to F1. I was working while I was on F1.

I had to exit the country due to personal reasons and when I re-entered USA, H4 was stamped on my passport again. My F1 is no longer valid and not eligible to work.

Also I'm going through divorce and I have to switch to F1 visa to continue my masters and secure a job.

Is there a way to reinvoke my F1? If not- what would be the valid reason for the change of status to F1 again?
