  • Travel Restriction on OPT (H4 to F1 COS)

    Hello All,

I am in a strange situation and need some advice. I have changed my visa status from H4 to F1 couple of years ago, now graduated and working on OPT (since 11 months now). I am planning to travel to India this December. Would it be very risky for me to travel to India, as I have to go through the stamping process? If so, how much?

Recent travelers to India who have gone through the stamping process, please share your experiences.

    Thanks in advance,
    Dimpy

In general there is always a risk in F1 Visa application, because of immigrant intent. But since you have already completed your studies, there is somewhat more risk because you may not be able to convince them that you don't have immigrant intent. Prepare convincing and truthful answers about your plans after completing OPT, your strong ties to home country etc.
This is my opinion and not legal advice.

      Kabkaba,

Thanks for your advice. Really appreciate it. However, from your experience do you have any idea on the best suitable and convincing answer stating that I have no immigration intent.

      Thanks,
      Dimpy
