Land entry, no I94 record?

Hi, I entered the US by a car from Canada using my F1 visa. The officer asked where I would go to school and let me in after beeping my visa. But she did not look at my I20 nor chop on my passport. I asked if it was ok and she said yes.

But as I check my I94 status online, there is no record of my entry, only the previous records of my B1/B2 shows. Could somone please tell me if it is the normal case?
