Travelling to India before F-1 gets approved

Hi,

I applied for a change of status from H-1 to F-1 on May 6,2015. However, due to emergency personal conditions, I may have to travel to India in a week. The application is still pending with USCIS. When I am in my home country, will the status change still be valid? I am looking to come back in January next year to continue my studies, so will my student visa still be valid, or should I apply for a new one since I was not enrolled as a full time student after the status change was approved.

Also, how long does it take after I apply for student visa from India to be processed?

never go back to india.. u have to get the f1 visa again.. samething happened to my brother now he stuck in india.. all i can say stay here dont leave with any PR status..

This case happened to my friend too. It's hard to get F1 visa in my country and he had to wait for a long time to get F1 Visa again.
