Name Mismatch in passport and I20

Needed a quick information.

Name on my passport
-----------------------
Given Name : AAA
Sur Name : BBB CCC

CCC is also my fathers name. My First Name and Last Name are AAA , BBB respectively.
Ideally CCC should have been my middle name. CCC also appears in my passport Fathers Name

I am applying for I20 at UCONN , Mentioning the following details.

First Name: AAA
Last Name: BBB
Middle Name : CCC

Some please let me know if this is OK when I go to consular office?
I need to apply for I20 at the earliest, please answer this as soon as possible.

It would be wise to follow the naming pattern as given in your passport. Even if you feel your last name is misrepresented, you should follow the passport's given/surnames. This is your official document when you travel abroad and is used to everything from SSN to license and beyond. If you still feel your name requires correction, get your passport corrected and then use it.
