Hello!
I currently live in USA and I have H4 visa. I apply for PhD programs for fall 2016 semester. The problem is that my spouse is going to start green card process at work. Will it still be possible for me to receive F1 (J1) visa, if he applies for green card? I am concerned because F1 and J1 are non-immigration visas, and it will be quite complicated for me to prove my non-immigration intentions because my spouse will start to ask for green card.
What should we do? Should we wait until I change visa status and apply for green card afterwards? Or it is absolutely normal to change one non-immigration visa on another during green card processing? And how hard is to change F1 or J1 visa status on green card holder status (there may be a two year rule after J1, correct)?
