F1 Student-Speeding Ticket (Class C misdemeanor)

I was recently cited in TX for speeding (55 mph in a 45 zone) when I was on cruise control and wasn't anywhere close to even 50. I went to court to fight the ticket. The judge eventually sided with the officer and found me guilty of speeding and now I am slapped with a class C misdemeanor for something I didn't do. I plan to appeal the decision and hope to get a retrial. I will be leaving the country for winter break (about 3 weeks). Would this misdemeanor on my record cause me any issues on reentry? Also, would starting up an appeals process bar me from leaving the country until the case is complete?
