  • Possible Discrepancy in DS-160s of B1 and F1 VISA application

    Hello,

I am currently planning to do my masters in the USA for the Fall 2016 intake.

I had travelled last year to the USA on a B1 visa (my company had sent me on a business trip).

When I was reviewing the DS160 which was submitted for my B1 visa application, I found that the field (Do you have any other relatives in the US ?) was marked as NO. I guess I missed this since I do have a first cousin and 2nd cousins (Mom's and Dad's side). In my company, they make the travel agents fill our DS-160 .

Now that I am going to fill the DS160 for my F-1 visa, I am planning on saying YES to the other relatives field (Since I am not comfortable lying). When I do this, this creates a possible discrepancy. Will this impact me negatively?

    Thanks for your time .

It could. Factual discrepancies attract scrutiny.

No matter who fills out your ds160, you as an applicant assume full responsibility for the contents of the application. When you went to your previous interview, you took an oath to validate all responses.
