h4 to f1

My wife had H4 and she applied for her F1( Got her I20 from the school too) as well as F2 for me since I was not happy where i worked. I wanted to just have her finish school and go back home. After we applied I had my H1 canceled. We just got an answer asking for my current paystubs in order to see my H1 is still in effect. However I already canceled my H1, the school said that should not be a problem. My F1 processing center should have a copy of the cancelation why are they asking for paystubs. I am confussed??? Am I in trouble???
