F2 Visa during my OPT

I am planning to apply to apply for F2 visa for my spouse. I am presently on F1 from Aug 2015 and doing MS. I need your advice on these queries.

1. If I graduate in Dec 2016 and get full time job from Jan 2017 on OPT, will my spouse be still eligible to apply for F2 visa even on OPT? Are there any advantages and/or disadvantages?
2. I am on F1 and planning to graduate in May 2017. Can my spouse apply for F2 visa in Jan-Feb 2017?
3. How long will the status of F2 dependent visa will be? Will it be same as my F1 validity?
4. What are the necessary documents I need to submit to OIS to get new i-20 for my spouse?


I request your help on this. Please help me in making right decisions.

F2 is dependent visa under F1. You are still with F1 visa after OPT application, so your spouse will hold the F2 vsia after your graduation as well. You may need to extend yours and your spouse' visa ending date if needed.
