Visa officer and Me greeted almost simultaneously.

VO- Pass me your i20 and Passport
Me- Given (given after little search (my i20 was below few docs))
VO-Why are you going to US?
Me- To pursue my master degree in Mechanical Engineering.
VO-What other admits you have?
Me-CSU and University of Florida put me in waiting list.
VO-Why ASU?
Me- ASU provides wide range of courses in fluid mechanics, especially computational fluid dynamics which is my area of interest.
VO-How does this course related to your background studies?
Me- I have studied basic courses in my UG, carried out three projects in same field and file one patent. Also, continued working in same field.
VO- In which company do you work and what do you do?
Me- I work in YYYY and I do CFD analysis of mechanical components like agitator, turbine, ceiling fans and drone (interrupted)
VO-how much do you earn?
Me-22000/-
VO- who is sponsoring you?
Me- My brother and my father
VO- can I see your father passbook?
Me- Given

She flipped page by page, in between i said I have FDs of worth 8.5 L. After flipping all pages, she given me rejection slip 214.
Guys, my father passbook has 36.75L balance and Fds value 8.5L. She didn't ask me anything or any docs.

I am surprise and sad. Can you suggest me what went wrong?

You did not give dollars equivalent of your earnings and your father bank balance to connect it with the outcome of your interview bcos you've done pretty well going by what u stated up here. May be if u give me the equivalent we will be able to connect.

Time- 11:30 (But reached there by 7:10 and complete process got over by 8:50)

After all the security checking stood up in line for half an hour. At sharp 8:00, almost all windows open. I got my slot at 8:30.
Counter No-21
Visa officer was around 45-50 year. Rejected a girl before me (I don’t know exact reasons, but she was supposed to go Hyderabad consulate and she has 283 in GRE).
Now My turn..
VO- Please pass me your docs.
Me- I passed him i20 and passport.
VO-Why ASU?
Me- It is one of the top universities which offer best courses in fluid dynamics. Also, ongoing researches align with my area of interest.
VO- What was your second choice?
Me- CSU….among my admits
VO-In how many colleges did you applied?
Me-12
VO- What is your GRE score?
Me-told
VO-Who is funding you?
Me- My father and my brother are going to sponsor my education expenses. I have YYYY savings and assets worth ZZZ
VO- How is your application different from previous time?
Me- Sir, I have docs that will proof that I have strong ties to my home country, I have my family here, my father has properties here, apart from that I have two properties on my name.
(I have given him docs of my properties)
VO- Describe about your properties?
Me- It is empty land in the main market, dimensions are XX-length, XX-width, you can find the detail in CA report (Directed him the page where properties detail was mention).
(He returned the my properties docs to me)
VO-What is the value of your lands?
Me- more than 50 lacs
VO-How did your sponsors collected money?
Me- We have a jewelry shop and 8 acre of lands.
VO- How many people work on your shop?
Me- two people apart from my brother and my father, total 4 people.
VO-what is the income of your father?
Me-XX lacks per year.
(Started seeing bank statement and other financial docs)
VO-last time also you brought same docs?
Me- yes Sir, but bank statement is updated one. I took it on 30th of June.
(Took all the docs inside for verification. He came back after 10 min and started typing.)
VO- In which field are you going to study?
Me-Computational Fluid Dynamics, I am working in this field for 2 years now. So, I decided to continue in same field.
Vo- where do your family live?
Me- (Told about my native place location)...I have competed my study in Bangalore and continued working there.
VO- In which company do you work? (Continued typing)
Me- YYYY Company in Bangalore as an Application engineer.
VO- (while typing)...how much savings did you tell?
Me- xxx
(I continue speaking…), I got picked by YYYY company from my campus placement because of my final year project. My final year project is in same field in which I am going to do my masters. Also, I have gone through week training program...(Intrupted)
VO- Your visa is approved
Me- Thank you very much sir
(run away from there thinking that he may change his mind)
Guys,
1. Be clear with your words and with your docs. Try, short and crisp answer. Take a pose while answering, give information in short sentences.
2. Speak about your genuine interest towards study
3. Don’t wait for VO questions for specific answer. If you have been asked one question then answer related points.
4. avoid looking or hear each and every conversations, it may increase your tension.
5. Keep calm and keep moving
