My wife was on H4 visa until she got F1 visa stamp, issued last week at the Hyderabad,India consulate and also picked up the passport. Today, she was supposed to fly back to USA on F1 visa, but only realized at the airport that the Passport is damaged. The booklet came of the main binding cover, but the rest of it is in good condition and F1 visa is not damaged at all. The airlines did not allow her to fly as the passport is damaged.
1. Now, she will have to apply to get a new Passport?
2. Could you please let us know, if she needs to go for F1 visa stamping again or can she still fly back with the new passport along with the partially damaged one which has the recent F1 visa stamping.
3. Do we need to do anything in regards to SEVIS as her current SEVIS, as it is paid on the current passport, when she gets the new passport.
Please guide us in this tough and strenuous situation on what should be our next steps for her to get back to USA on F1 visa.
