I am getting married in December 2016 and will apply for F2 visa immediately. However I am applying for full-time masters for Fall 2017 session. I cannot enroll for a full time course on F2 visa and I don't want to defer my masters. I have heard that applying from US for visa change status takes a lot of time as I will be receiving my i20 2 months prior to my start date and the visa conversion if filed from US takes time. I just wanted to ask if I can shift to US on F2 status in January 2017 and come back to India after I get my i20 and get my visa status changed from India. Is that possible?
