Travelling to India on H4 but accepted to college with I20

Hi,

I am on H4. Applied to a college here and received my I20. Im travelling to India next week and back on December 1st week. Not planning to go for stamping in India this time . Im planning to apply for COS from H4 to F1 once Im back here . College starts in Jan.

Will there be any issues/questions regarding this at POE? I have valid H4 till July 2017.

I am in the same situation and was wondering if this can create any issues for my re-entry while coming back for Fall 2017. With I20 in hand wish to travel on H4 and come back.

You will not have a problem at POE. Remember change of status can take anywhere from 3 months to a year. So you will not be able to get all the benefits of F1 such as on-campus job, GA/RA (paid) etc.
