US F1 visa application problem. Passport expiry 1 month before course end date.

Hi,

My passport expires just 1 month before the intended end date of my masters course in USA. Can I still apply for visa with same passport for the whole length of the program ?
Or do I need to renew my passport asap ?

Nope. You typically renew your passport ~6months from expiry date. So, if your course is longer than that, you are fine. You can renew it within the US.

Your passport just needs to be valid for 6 months on the day you enter (or for passports from certain countries, just valid, for no particular length of time, on the day you arrive). Your duration of stay in the US won't be limited by when your passport expires because F-1 are admitted for "D/S" on their I-94, not until a specific date.
