My fiance is a phd student in pharmacology in USA. his F1 visa is valid till June 2011. our marriage is in May in India and I want to apply for F2 visa later. I want to know about the required documents to prove financial status. these are the particulars of his I 20.He is getting a scholarship/ fellowship of $ 52000.
[1] My question is how much bank balance should he show to convince the VisaOfficer that he can support me. Is the I 20 alone sufficient?? If he has to show a higher bank balance in his account, can he borrow it from his parents in India?? how do we go about it?? what else can be done??
Now I want to tell you about myself.
I am a mbbs graduate from India. I wanted to study further in USA. So i finished my USMLE steps and I applied for a visitor visa and got a visa. Right now I have a valid multiple entry visitor visa till september 2006. I have visited USA twice in last 1 year. first time I went to USA to give my exam. then I had applied for residency and I went the second time to attend residency interviews. But I did not get a residency this year. both the times I have come back well before the end of my duration of stay stamped in my passport.i have not overstayed.
[2] My question is, does me having travelled twice to US and having a valid visitor visa is an advantage or disadvantage in getting a F2 visa??
[3] In the visa interview, if they ask the reason for my recent travel I have to reveal the same. So does me being a doctor and having a potential to apply for a residency in future affect the chances of me getting a dependant visa? how do i convince them that I will not work or study once I come to USA??
[4] I want to come to USA in June 2006 to do some rotations in the hospitals to help me get a residency next year. If there is a chance of rejection of F2 visa ,I want to know if I can still use my visitor visa to come to USA again even after I get married.
Thanks in advance .
Regards.
