Hi everyone,
I'm currently on OPT that expires on March 6th, 2017. I'm looking at joining another program to maintain my status for the next H1B cycle. During the SEVIS transfer I heard that I shouldn't be working (actually not getting paid) until the new I-20 is ready with the new authorization date, so basically I should ask my employer to not pay me for that period of time.
Is there a way to avoid such gap? I can join a program that starts in Jan, what is risk of keep working on the existing OPT until I get the new I-20 with a new date and give it to my employer?
Your valuable advice is highly appreciated!
