F2 visa expired, any change of extension while in OPT?

Hi, both my visa & my wife visa expired 2 months ago in Aug 2017, this is my last semester which ends on 12th dec 2017 and my OPT starts on 9th Feb 2018. My wife went to India 6 months ago with our US born baby. now will she get F2 visa extension when i am in my opt. Should i go India to get a visa renewal in order to get F2 for my wife? Please somebody solve my question.

Visas are only for entry. If you don't need to enter, you don't need a visa. Your wife can get an F2 visa based on the fact you are in F1 status.

I am facing the same situation like yours. I am on F1 status in USA but my F1 visa (stamped on the passport) has expired 2 months back. I want to call my spouse on F2 visa.
Can my spouse get F2 visa approval if my F1 visa is expired ?

Or did you apply for your wife's F2 without renewing your F1 visa?
If yes, then what was the outcome? Did it get approved or rejected? Please let me know
