Hi,
I have got admission for Full time MBA program, and my program is expected to start by Aug 19, 2018. My admission is under process and im expecting to receive the I-20 form by March. As per USA laws, i can travel only 30 days before the start of the program on F1 visa, i.e by July 2018.
However, i intend to travel to USA by 1st week of May '18, as i want to attend a cousins function who lives in USA. I also want to use this chance to go and explore the university and acclimitize myself with the place. But, i can go in May only on B2(tourist ) visa.
I want to know, if i can apply now for F1 first, and then also apply for B2 visa? By when can i begin processing and applying for both the visas? can i hold both F1 and B2 visa at the same time? if i apply for B2 after F1, will my F1 visa get cancelled? I donot want to go with the option of changing from B2 to F1 within USA, as that takes very long time to process and my program can get delayed. Can you suggest the best and safest way to proceed with my situation?
