I had a full ceremony religious Hindu wedding in India but we did not register the marriage in India.
I understand that for legal and practical purposes, I am legally married even though I do not have it registered and have no marriage certificate.
Can I still remarry my wife in the USA and obtain a marriage certificate in the USA?
We will disclose in the USA that we were married in India according to Hindu customs and rituals. I'm just remarrying my wife here.
Is there a problem in that? Does the USA allow for that? Will India object to that?
My wife needs to apply for an F2 dependent visa and I am in the USA on F1.
We figured it would be easier to marry and register it here in the USA rather than go to India to acquire the marriage certificate based on the religious ceremony/wedding.
