  • F1 to Green Card (Family Based)

    Hi,

I am in US on F1 visa (Sophomore at an University). My family's Priority date is approaching towards Final Action Date (F4 category) in Visa Bulletin. My question is when the Appointment Date is issued, do I have to travel back to my Home country or is there any other process I can follow to convert my student visa to Green Card while in US?

    Thanks

Technically, yes, you can do Adjustment of Status in the US, but only after the principal beneficiary enters the US with their immigrant visa (assuming you are still in the US and in status at that time), so your immigration process will be delayed if you do it this way.

This is my personal opinion and is not to be construed as legal advice.

      Thanks for the info.

Do you know how long does it usually take to compete Adjustment of Status process?
