Hey everyone,
While filling the DS160 form for the F1 VISA application, I realized that there is a mismatch of names on the I-20 and my passport. In the I-20,
Surname is - YYYY YYYY | Given name is - *blank*
While in my Passport,
Surname is - *blank* | Given name is - YYYY YYYY
The DS160 form has fields for both a Surname and a Given Name. Since a Surname is mandatory in the US, I have applied for my passport to be reissued with surname included.
Now my question is, after receiving the New passport, shall I continue filling the DS160 form according to the Names on the new Passport or the I20. I don't want to ask the university to ask for a New I-20 according to my updated passport because it would then take a lot of time, and I am already late with my VISA application. What do you suggest me to do?
I would also like to know what is the approximate time between online submission of DS160 form until the VISA Appointment at an Embassy in India?
If any could give me suggestions or advice from their previous experiences, I would highly appreciate it.
