Hi,
I am going to start my masters in University of Washington from Sep 2018. My program allows me to work during the day while studying. I am currently on L2 visa and my EAD and my husband has H1-B in consular notify status with I140 approved.
I have following options:
1. He switches to H1 and I to H4. I apply for EAD and can work next year, given that H4 EAD is still allowed to work.
2. I switch to F1, which I can only do in December quarter break, since my quarter is starting next week. If I go for F1, I wont have the same work opportunities as H4 EAD since I wont be able to work while studying.
I would like to ask whether to go with option 1 given the uncertainty around H4 EAD?
What would happen in case F1 visa is denied? Would I still be allowed to travel to USA and continue my studies?
Another concern I have is about the questions that I might be asked during visa interview about why do I want to switch to F1 if I can still study on L2 or H4?
Thanks
