H4 to F1 student visa too much delay
Hello,
I am studying on H4 visa in a public university in US. I joined the course in spring 2017 and did not immediately apply for F1. I continued studying this way on H4 and last Nov 17 submitted I-539 for COS from H4 to F1. What looked initially like a simple 4-6 months procedure is showing now 12-16 months for H4 to F1 COS at Vermont Service Center.
The problem is that my spouse is having visa only till Apr 19 so i could not somehow extend my graduation until next semester.Therefore, i opted to graduate this semester i.e Fall 2018.
Now, Dec 23 i will become graduate but my fear is i will not get F1 status by then as currently application is showing June 17.Please tell me whether it is ok to get F1 after graduation date and thereafter i can apply for OPT. Also what if it goes beyond 60 days after dec 23 will i become out of status although my H4 is till Apr 19 along with my wife.
