legal status on OPT?

Hello Sir/Madame,

I am on OPT right now. I still have a week and it expires then.

I have 2 questions:

To be still in the USA, do I have to have new F-1 in hand before the OPT expires or is it enough if I have applied for a college for admissions?

Is there any other way I can maintain the legal status.

You ahve a 60 day grace period after your OPT expires
