I am indian student on F1 visa in the US since past 3yrs.
While applying last time for my visa,I had not mentioned my brothers information (under name and address column for-Children,parents and siblings. #6) in DS-158 FORM.I have to go for visa renewal again this winter (as I still have 1yr masters course left)and I wanted to put his name this time in DS-158.He is an Australian permanent resident working as a credit officer.
But I am not sure how seriously they would take this .Is this discrepancy reason enough for them to reject my visa?Otherwise my GPA is 3.85 and I have graduate assistantship.
Do the consulate officer look into our parental/family background when they grant us renewal ?
Please let me know as this is very important for me.If I dont show my brothers info. now,I may never be able to do it,and I dont know how I can correct this without losing my visa status.
